Castle tourism in Kansai (Kinki)

The Kinki region was once the capital of Japan and the seat of the Emperor. Numerous military commanders such as Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi established bases there, and many historic castles, shrines and temples remain, mainly in Kyoto and Nara. There are also existing castle towers that are national treasures, such as Hikone Castle and Himeji Castle. Universal Studios Japan is located in Osaka, which is famous as a commercial city, and the atmosphere changes dramatically depending on the area, such as the exotic Kobe, the nature-rich Lake Biwa, the mysterious Kumano Kodo, and Ise Grand Shrine.
