Castle tourism in Wakayama Prefecture

Wakayama Prefecture is blessed with mountains and the sea. It is known for historical spots such as the Kumano Sanzan, the center of the Kumano Kodo, a world heritage site, and Mt. Koya, where Kobo Daishi Kukai founded the city. Be sure to check out the graves of Sengoku warlords on Mt. Koya. Wakayama Castle, the residence of the Kishu Tokugawa family, is a symbol of the prefecture. There are also spectacular scenic spots along the coast, such as Shirarahama Beach and Engetsu Island. There are also historical hot springs such as Japan's oldest hot spring, Yunomine Onsen, Kawayu Onsen, and Ryujin Onsen. Adventure World in Shirahama is famous for its pandas.
