Castle tourism in Okinawa Prefecture

Okinawa Prefecture is made up of islands surrounded by the beautiful southern sea. It is known as the ``Southern Island'' where you can enjoy beaches and marine activities, but it was once the site of the Ryukyu Kingdom, which flourished as a trading base. Nine sites on the main island of Okinawa, including the Shuri Castle Ruins and Nakijin Castle Ruins, are registered as World Heritage Sites as the "Gusuku and Related Sites of the Ryukyu Kingdom." Remote islands such as Miyakojima and Ishigakijima are known for their clear, beautiful waters. Furthermore, on Taketomi Island, you can take a water buffalo cart and tour the village surrounded by red brick roofs and stone walls.
