Kazutoyo Yamauchi mansion ruins monument

Kazutoyo Yamauchi Residence Monument, the remains of the residence of Kazutoyo Yamauchi, the lord of Nagahama Castle, when he was a newlywed.

Although Hideyoshi built Nagahama Castle, five people served as its lords after Hideyoshi left Nagahama and until it was abandoned. One of them was Kazutoyo Yamauchi, who was a vassal of Hideyoshi at the time. Kazutoyo, who was active in the battles of Anegawa and Shizugatake, was given 20,000 koku in 1585 and became the lord of Nagahama Castle. The ``Yamauchi Kazutoyo Residence Monument'' stands in the northeast of Nagahama Castle, which is believed to be the site of Kazutoyo's residence when he was a vassal of Hideyoshi, the lord of Nagahama Castle. It is said to be the place where he and his wife Chiyo spent their newlywed days.
