Castle tourism in Miyagi Prefecture

Miyagi Prefecture, located in the southeastern part of Tohoku, is a place where you can feel the gorgeous culture left behind by Date Masamune. There are many historical spots related to Masamune, such as Sendai Castle (Aoba Castle Ruins), Zuihoden, and Zuiganji Temple. The summer Sendai Tanabata Festival, which was started by Masamune, is one of the largest in Japan. Matsushima, known as one of Japan's three most scenic spots, is also a popular scenic spot. There are 260 islands of various sizes floating in Matsushima Bay, and you can tour them by boat. Naruko Onsen, famous for its kokeshi dolls, and Akiu Onsen, which has a history of 1500 years, are also famous.
