``Ohanahan Street'', a charming Edo streetscape

Ohanahan Street, located at the eastern edge of the city, is a place typical of Little Kyoto, where the Edo-era street layout and width of the houses have been faithfully preserved. The name comes from the fact that NHK's morning drama ``Ohanahan'' was filmed there, and it is also known as the filming location for ``Tokyo Love Story.'' On the street that borders merchant houses and samurai residences, there are earthen storehouses built from the Edo period to the Taisho period on the north side, and samurai residences with wainscoting on the south side. Another highlight is the carp swimming in the flower-decorated waterways along the cobblestone streets.
